‘Dangerous Ishq’ teaser to be shown with Hollywood film

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 11:07 AM PST

The first teaser of Vikram Bhatt's 3D project Dangerous Ishq might be released with a Hollywood movie, says the lead actor Rajniesh Duggal of the film. "The teaser of the film will most probably be launched with a Hollywood 3D film. There are a few films that are lined up in 3D. We are yet to decide the film with which we should release the teaser. But it would be out by the end of February," Rajniesh said. The model-turned-actor will be seen in the movie with Karisma Kapoor, who is set for a comeback to showbiz after a five-year break. Rajniesh considers himself lucky to work with the charismatic Karisma. He says he has grown up watching her films and feels she is a 'wonderful co-star'. Despite Karisma's presence, Rajniesh is secure of his role in the film. "My role is pivotal. No one can take my film away from me…besides it's a love story," he said. The title of Dangerous Ishq sounds unusual, to which Rajniesh said, "The title is such because the film is about the dangers that are involved in love." The film is scheduled to release on May 11, 2012. Unusual or not we are indeed keen to see Karisma Kapoor back on screen doing  what she does best, act!

Katrina KaifKatrina Kaif   | Salman Khan   | Movies Stills   | Wallpapers   | Hot N Spicy   | Kat Fan Club  Can you ever imagine that an item song can lead to brutal gunshots and violence? If you can't believe so, please do after learning about a recent incident that involved Katrina Kaif's 'Chikni Chameli'.

It all happened in a bar in Dahisar where a casual request triggered a violent fight between a person and a group of men. The news that was initially broken by a leading daily reports that a small time businessman requested the bar singer to sing Katrina Kaif's famous item song Chikni Chameli from the film Agneepath, despite knowing that she had already sung the song couple of times.

Even when the other customers showed their displeasure over his request, he kept on insisting and nagging over the same. This lead to a verbal spat and gradually ended up in a brutal violence and assault. In fact, the incident grew so serious that it led to gunshots as well.

Shahid Kapoor: I don’t compete with Ranbir Kapoor

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 09:50 AM PST

When Shahid Kapoor turned up to launch the in-car entertainment segment of Pioneer Electronics recently, he had to field a few volleys from the media. Shahid had just returned from Macau after attending the Zee Cine Awards and was in his usual chirpy mood. He was extremely pleased to be associated with the products as he believes that music can touch the soul. But even as he did his promotions, Shahid also spilled a few beans. He stated that he has no competition from Ranbir Kapoor and insisted that no comparisons should be drawn between them. When questioned about his ex-flame (still a rumour, never substantiated by either one of the two!) Priyanka Chopra's performance at the awards function, Shahid came up with the most bizarre reply ever: he maintained that he did not watch her act, so couldn't judge!

When an enthusiastic journo probed further and asked Sasha about his marriage plans, he said that marriage was not on the cards for him any time soon, as he's currently unemployed and waiting for a good project to come his way. Kaminey was Shahid's last hit, after which the 30-year-old failed to impress the audience with Mausam, directed by his father Pankaj Kapur and co-starring Sonam Kapoor. We hope Shahid will ride out this storm in his life too and make a stunning comeback with a good film! Until then, we wait to catch him at the odd promotional meet or event performance. And we can't help wondering now if Priyanka watched her alleged ex do his thing in Macau….

Bollywood News Ranbir in 'Businessman' remake? - IndiaFM

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 09:44 AM PST

#Puri Jagannadh's Telugu film BUSINESSMAN has emerged a stupendous success. Starring Mahesh Babu in the lead, the film was closely monitored by industry watchers in Bollywood as well. One of the reasons for keeping tabs could be Bollywood's interest in Southern films. The super success of a number of South Indian remakes [BODYGUARD and SINGHAM specifically] has prompted film-makers in Mumbai to keep an eye on what's faring well in South.

In between, there was talk that Puri Jagannadh was keen on remaking BUSINESSMAN in Hindi with Mahesh Babu, but the latest development is that the talented director is in talks with Ranbir Kapoor for the lead role. "Mahesh Babu wasn't keen on the Hindi remake of the film," Puri Jagannadh informs me. Meanwhile, a hush-hush screening of the film was held for Ranbir last week. "We are in talks with Ranbir, though nothing concrete is finalized yet," Puri Jagannadh adds.

In the meantime, Puri Jagannadh is making BUSINESSMAN 2 with Mahesh Babu. The sequel, he tells me, will be made in Hindi and Telugu languages simultaneously.

WBRi Movie Review: GHOST (2012) – Shiney Ahuja Makes His Comeback In A Lame ... - Washington Bangla Radio

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 08:07 AM PST

Ghost (Hindi, 2012) Bollywood Indian Film Poster

Calcutta, Jan 14, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio / Penning Creations) Promising acting careers getting nipped in the bud is not really an uncommon phenomenon in Bollywood. While actors like Rahul Roy and Kumar Gaurav, after fine performances in their debut films (Aashiqui and Love Story, respectively) gradually faded away, the immensely talented Divya Bharati was taken away from us by a cruel act of fate. For the last couple of years, it seemed that Shiney Ahuja, another young man with considerable acting flair, would join this list of actors, who never managed to do justice to their histrionic talents. Ahuja, who had delivered a stirring performance in his debut movie itself (the brilliant Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi), was delivering box office winners almost at will (Gangster, Woh Lamhe, Life In A Metro), when there occurred a sudden, unfortunate occurrence (which is best not discussed here!), that seemed to put an end to his acting career. Putting our anxious anticipations to rest, however, the actor (who was once touted as the thinking womans sex symbol) has made a return to films with the Puja Jatinder Bedi-directed supernatural flick, Ghost. The movie, however, is hardly the ideal comeback vehicle for Shiney.

Trailer: Ghost (Hindi, 2012)

Ghost starts off promisingly enough, with a series of brutal and perplexing murders taking place at the City Hospital. No signs of the killer can be detected and there are no apparent motives for these random killings either. Just when it seems that it would be impossible to find out when, or how, these murders are taking place, Dr. Suhani (Shayali Bhagat), the glamorous young recruit at the hospital detects something unusual. She feels the presence of a supernatural force, which manifests itself at night and wrecks havoc in the hospital, claiming the lives of innocent victims in the process. In a bid to end this tumultuous situation once and for all, the investigating force appoints the most talented officer from its ranks, Vijay Singh, on the case. Intrigued by the curious tale that Dr. Suhani has to relate, Vijay repeatedly questions her, searching for useful pointers that might help him solve the mystery on hand. The daily interactions with each other helps Vijay and Suhani form a strong bond of friendship with each other – a bond that soon gets transformed into a feeling of intense, mutual love.

Our evil, supernatural murderer, is, however, not stymied by the arrival of Vijay on the scene (why should a supernatural being be afraid of a mortal police officer, in any case?!). In fact, it embarks on a fresh killing spree with renewed vigour, seemingly challenging Vijay to try and get to the bottom of things. What follows is a series of disturbing plot twists, evil manifestations, revenge and deceit, that would go along to prove that, nothing is quite as it seems. Will the young officer, with the help of his aide and lady love, be successful in unravelling the mystery of this affair? Come on, we cant provide spoilers of such huge proportions here!

Ghost does not offer much in terms of novelty as far as its storyline is concerned. Like many other stereotypical Bollywood horror flicks, there is a seemingly haunted building (a hospital, in this case!), only one person who can feel the sinister presence of a supernatural being and several twists and turns, which, for the most parts, are rather predictable. The romantic track between Vijay and Suhani is undercooked and, frankly, is quite unnecessary in a horror movie. The mushy scenes between the leading couple of the film somehow break the sense of anticipation and foreboding that the movie strives, but generally fails, to achieve. Director Puja Jatinder Bedi is amateurish in her treatment of the story and her style of narration also requires polish. The movie also cries out for a better editing, which would have given the film a tighter screenplay and a much smarter overall feel. To her credit, the director does manage to deliver quite a few genuinely spine-chilling moments in the film. Some of the murder sequences are shot with real finesse and style and are, technically, at par with the best that Bollywood has to offer. Sadly, such sparkling moments are few and (very!) far between in the movie.

Horror flicks invariably rely upon strong performances from its entire cast in order to become successful (think Bhoot, Ragini MMS). Ghost falls short of the mark on that count too. Shiney Ahuja, as Vijay Singh is easily the best thing about the movie. He shows that, his forced hiatus from films has not diminished his acting prowess in any way. Shiney, however, still appears ill at ease during the romantic scenes. Shayali Bhagat, as Dr. Suhani, looks pretty, then frightened and then absolutely terrified – all in an artificial, plastic manner. Her dialog delivery requires improvement too. The former beauty queen needs to take up her acting capabilities by several notches to be even considered as a member of the A-list of Bollywood actresses. Tej Sapru sleepwalks through his role. Deepraj Rana and Tabrez Khan leave a good impact. Julia Bliss is adequate. The rest of the cast are plain ordinary.

Ghost suffers from the absence of even a single hummable track in the entire film. While it is not an absolute must for horror movies to have killer soundtracks, there was ample scope for music directors Sharib and Toshi Shabri to do a better job. The background music, by Raju Singh, is grating. Cinematography and special effects are, however, surprisingly good in Ghost, ensuring that, hardcore horror fans would find their moments of joy(!) in the film.

All in all, Ghost marks a decent attempt on the part of the director to delve into the supernatural theme. However, the movie is let down by inconsistent performances, unnecessary (read: romantic!) subplots and a general feeling of predictability. The movie is technically polished and has a few truly chilling sequences. However, the loose screenplay of the movie never allows it to become anything but a routine (and slightly boring!) Bollywood horror flick.
Shiney Ahuja may yet find his footing all over again in Bollywood. However, films like Ghost are not likely to help him in his comeback efforts whatsoever.

Chitrangda Singh works hard for Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Inkaar’

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 06:43 AM PST

Our little birdie from the sets of Sudhir Mishra's next, Inkaar, can't stop going ga-ga over the Desi Boyz gal's performance. A source says, "Chitrangda has done a fab job in Sudhir's film. Her character has a journey of eight years. She starts out as this bohemian young girl and cleans up to become a sophisticated CEO of a company." The film also starring Arjun Rampal is based on sexual exploitation of women at work place. Well, finally Chitrangda is back to doing what she did best – perform instead of be a Barbie doll like her last movie Desi Boyz. Maybe it's an outcome of the harsh criticism she received for her two songs and three scenes in the masala entertainer?

The Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi actor's fans, especially the ones in the media circle, were saddened that Chitrangda accepted a frivolous role of an attractive professor. But if our sources are to be believed, the actor will win back her critics with Inkaar. However, it's too soon to say as the film has just wrapped up. And before that she has yet another light-hearted romantic comedy, I Me Aur Main along with John Abraham and Prachi Desai. So her fans will have to wait just a little longer to see Chitrangda back to her original self. Guess that's worth a wait, what say you?

Why is Kareena Kapoor getting closer to Aamir Khan?

Posted: 24 Jan 2012 05:00 AM PST

Shahrukh Khan is known for upsetting people, knowingly or otherwise. His tongue-in-cheek humour and caustic remarks don't go down well with many B-towners. With every passing day, SRK is generating more frenemies in his once-loyal friends. The new entrant in this ever-lengthening list is Kareena Kapoor. The gorgeous actor who was once considered SRK's huge fan and also his co-star in many films including Asoka, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and RA. One is now keeping a safe distance from King Khan. Instead, Kareena is getting closer to Aamir Khan, who is equally potent at setting the BO on fire and is a massive star in his own right. Now that makes us wonder what exactly could have gone wrong in the SRK-Kareena once-happy paradise.

A little birdie informs us that Sharukh's over-friendly equation with Priyanka Chopra has irked Bebo and she has decided to work more with her 3 idiots star in future. We have also heard that Kareena was expecting a good role for her beau Saif Ali Khan in any of the planned SRK-Karan Johar films. But sadly, Saif could not land himself a single assignment through the SRK-KJo association and that has made Kareena switch loyalties. The 31-year-old actor is currently juggling promotions for the Imran Khan-starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and is working simultaneously on the post-production of Aamir's Reema Kagti-directed Talaash, which will release in June this year. Will Aamir and Bebo's growing friendship revive their chemistry of 3 Idiots in Talaash and give us yet another blockbuster? And will Kareena refuse a film with SRK if she is offered one? Only time will tell!
