A good interview is about a good conversation – Imran Khan

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 11:00 AM PST

imran khan1 200x152 First acting, then photography and now journalism: Bollywood's talented actor Imran Khan seems to have a knack for everything. Offering a few tips for today's journalists, Imran suggests a good interview should be like a good conversation instead of being an "exam sheet".

"Most journalists have an exam sheet which comprises – what is your favourite colour, your favourite holiday destination, what you like to do in your free time. This is not an interview, this is a questionnaire. I feel to make a good interview, be it print, radio or TV, it has to be a conversation. Fifty percent of the job is yours, half the job is mine. That is how you make a good interview," the 29-year-old said here at an event.

The actor revealed if ever given an opportunity, he would love to interview actor Salman Khan who, according to him, rarely opens up.

Imran's "Ek Main aur Ekk Tu" releases Feb 10 and stars Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Ram Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah.

Meanwhile, Imran's next with Vishal Bhardwaj, "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola," is set to go on floors Feb 14. – IANS

Aishwarya Rai glows at Riteish-Genelia wedding reception

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 09:17 AM PST

The wedding reception of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza was attended by the who's who of B-town, but the one guest we were glad to see was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The new mom looked gorgeous in her blue-and-green churidar kurta. All you Ash fans will definitely agree that we've not seen much of her since we found out about her pregnancy. She hardly ever stepped out in public, except for Sanjay Dutt's Mata Ki Chowki, where she covered her baby bump with a red puja cloth, and to various Durga pujas, where she wore enveloping flowing garments. After the baby was born in mid-November, she attended a press conference organised by husband Abhishek and father-in-law Amitabh. She looked tired (delivering your child by the natural process does take its toll) but glowing in her pale pink anarkali. Just when we thought we would see more of her, she opted to retreat indoors again. Only now, three months later, has she finally stepped out and that too for such a grand event.

Not having seen her in a long time, we assumed she would be busy getting back in shape; especially since it had been reported that she would be ready to start shooting again from January for the oh-so-gossiped-about Heroine (when she was still a part of the project). However, after taking a look at her photos from the event, that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Looks like Ash prefers to keep herself busy bonding with her daughter, changing nappies and bathing the infant rather than thinking about anything else. No wonder then that despite not having attained her pre-pregnancy shape, she is radiating happiness. We also love her bond with her mother-in-law Jaya – so obvious from the photograph. It sure helps to have supportive in-laws. All you women out there, don't you agree?

Abhishek Bachchan plans to save the environment

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 07:31 AM PST

Though Abhishek Bachchan's last film Players was a dud at the BO, he has already moved on to Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan in which he will be seen with Ajay Devgn. Despite his hectic schedule with the shoots, Jr B is excited about a potential new project – a film about saving the environment, through which he could possibly bring about a change of sorts. He also knows for a fact that very few people would be willing to fund a movie like this, but he hopes to act in one if it is ever made. When an all-out commercial film like Players doesn't work at the BO, there is a very slim chance that a documentary-style film talking about something as serious as climate change and its effects will find takers and Abhishek is well aware of that.

In a recent interview he said, "The challenge is to get a story that is compelling enough for Indian audiences to see. I know there are one or two films like 'Day After Tomorrow' that have been successful in the West and people came out thinking what if this actually happens tomorrow! If I make a film just talking about climate change, it would be boring to watch. The real challenge is to make a film that would be engrossing enough for the audiences to watch and to deal with the issues involved. If we come across something like that, I am on; I'll sign on the dotted line any day!" Wethinks that his desire to create a cleaner, greener and energy-efficient future should be appreciated, especially now since his daughter is going to be part of that tomorrow. But will anyone ask Abhishek to act in their film considering his BO record as it stands? We wonder!

Will Saif Ali Khan ever be the numero uno Khan?

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:31 AM PST

Saif maybe the Nawab of a province, but Bollywood is ruled by Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The Aarakshan actor has been around for a very long time but hasn't really managed to break into the top league of B-town. But things might change, if his movie, Agent Vinod is as good as its trailers. The trailer of the film has been getting rave comments and the first teaser of the song, I'll do the talking, is slowly topping the charts. This is Saif's most ambitious film till date and there is a lot invested in it besides money. Agent Vinod is also closer to Saif's heart because it is his second on-screen outing with his soon-to-be wife, Kareena Kapoor. Unfortunately, their last film together, Tashan, was a major disaster at the box office.

Buzz is that Saif is banking on this espionage thriller to get him equal billing like the other Khans. He may not be in the race as yet, but it seems that the actor is ready to take the big leap. In a recent interview, he said, "I have never been in a position of being a number one star. So, I don't know how it is being between number two and one. When I see my old films, I feel like I am a late bloomer. I am only coming into my own now. I think I look better and even feel better." Wethinks if the movie spins a good web at the BO, it may just help Saif make the cut. What do you think?

Priyanka Chopra: Shahrukh Khan has always been kind

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 04:44 AM PST

A couple of years ago, on the infamous couch of a talk show, with Shahid Kapoor by her side, Priyanka Chopra blushed a pretty pink whenever Shahrukh Khan was mentioned. They had already done Don together and were all set to repeat the chemistry in Don 2. PC was reportedly involved, hot and heavy, with Shahid, though neither of them would talk about it, and SRK was, as he has always been, deeply loyal to his wife. But then when beautiful people are thrown together for long periods of time, loyalty can easily be forgotten and family ties snapped. The two super-stars went off to Berlin, for a long outdoor shoot, and on to other beautiful locations. And the unthinkable happened, or so the gossip press and the B-town rumour-mongers insisted: Priyanka and her co-star, Shahrukh, were having a steaming affair, headlines screamed. Gauri Khan, always the supportive and loving wife, was closing ranks, shutting PC out of the social circuit that she reigned over. Piggy Chops was becoming the outsider, the lady against whom the doors that mattered were being slammed shut.

Was this true? Did PC and SRK really become romantically – or at least hormonally – involved during the making of Don 2? We do not know. We will perhaps never know, unless one of them comes out and says so. And frankly, we would prefer to stay in a state of ignorant bliss until someone reliable tells us the truth. We see it as two powerful Bollywood stars sharing the kind of rapport only people who have worked together for hours on end will. And having seen the love that SRK has for his wife and family, we think we are right. That neither Shahrukh nor Priyanka has admitted in any way to anything sleazy between them and the fact that they have co-hosted an awards show with Gauri and PC's parents present says a lot to us.

And now we read what PC has to say about the whole seamy scandal-mongering, in an interview to a reputed magazine. She never directly admits or contradicts any of the stories of an affair, but she shows the kind of respect and reverence a junior would to her senior, especially if the senior is one of the biggest names in the Indian film industry. She says that the reports linking her to Shahrukh Khan "make me angry and upset me a lot. Thankfully it hasn't changed my equation with him so far. But there is a possibility of things changing between us. That would be sad and shameful. I would hold people responsible for it all my life." So is there now any awkwardness between the two actors? Priyanka explains, "Not really, thankfully. He's always been kind. I don't think we've changed that much. I'm grateful for that."

Case, for now, closed, wethinks!

Hrithik Roshan packs a solid style punch!

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 03:26 AM PST

His deadly sensuality is reflected not just through his eyes but also in his unique style. His dressing sense is not a version of anybody else's. It is his very own and very real. Subtle on glamour and big on individuality, Hrithik Roshan's dressing sensibility has shaped his enviable persona. Shunning bod-hugging tees, see-through shirts and glitzy outfits, the Agneepath star has now introduced some solid changes into his wardrobe. Off late, the Indian Adonis has been donning comfortable yet classy leather jackets, semi-fit tees and snug open-collared shirts, but nothing quite matches his trend-setting stoles and scarves.

Those simple cashmere drapes around his neck add a dab of funkiness without much fuss. He prefers the basic earthy hues when it comes to color-coding and spices it up with statement accessories. With his aviators, chunky belts, oversize geeky spectacles or casual baseball caps, the macho actor doesn't shy away from showcasing his boyish eagerness. Hrithik surely brings it all – style, fabulousness, grace and a sporty yet relaxed attitude – in one delicious package. The mix, we think, is utterly lethal!

Is Prateik-Amy Jackson’s chemistry too hot to handle?

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 02:09 AM PST

Prateik and Amy Jackson's real life love equation trickled in on their reel life too and their passionate on screen romance has become a matter of concern for the makers of the film Ek Deewana Tha. The film had already run into trouble for the usage of the word 'Hosanna' in a song and now the director doesn't want to deal with any more controversies.

A little birdie informs us that the makers of the film feel that some of the steamy sequences shot between Prateik and Amy in the original take may be objected by the Censor Board. So those scenes are likely to be chopped off from the film to avoid further hassles. "The scenes are aesthetically shot, so we are left thinking whether to tone it down or completely edit it," said Gautam Menon, the director of Ek Deewana Tha in an interview. After all the trouble and controversies we hope that the effort is paid off and the film is really worth all the troubles.

Why is Ajay Devgn looking like a ‘goonda’?

Posted: 07 Feb 2012 12:34 AM PST

After a long time we caught a glimpse of Ajay Devgn – who has been away shooting in Jaipur for Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan - at two events around the same time. First he was spotted at his dear friend Sanjay Dutt's success bash for Agneepath and next at Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's wedding ceremony. And we think he looks like a different man. While the moustache he grew for the action flick Singham remains, it seems to have grown bigger and bushier, like something a villain from a truly rural masala flick would sport. As for his clothes – the actor, who is mostly seen in jeans and shirts, wore a pathani kurta and salwar to both dos. While the good-looking Ajay doesn't look awful, we don't like him in this goonda look. We were wondering if it was his designer's folly, in which case he needs to find a new one; but then we found that the kurta, salwar and moustache look if for his next, Bol Bachchan. For those who don't know, Rohit Shetty's new film is inspired by Hrishikesh Mukherjee's classical comedy Golmaal, and Ajay's character takes off from the orthodox patriarch played by Utpal Dutt in the original.

We are glad to get a sneak peek of the much-talked-about project, but why is Ajay wearing those same clothes at parties? Our source says that Ajay fell in love with the clothes that he wore for the film and told his designer to get him a similar set of pathani kurtas for his personal wardrobe too. Or perhaps, as our now-confused minds tell us, he was so impressed by his Halla Bol co-star Vidya Balan's penchant for dressing up like the characters in her films around release time, that he decided to adopt that habit too. That way he gets to dress the way he likes, but also promotes Bol Bachchan at a much lower cost and with far little effort. Good idea, Mr Devgn!

Veena Malik in a British film?

Posted: 06 Feb 2012 11:03 PM PST

We know the lengths to which Veena Malik can go to stay in the limelight and now the Pakistani bombshell is sprinting the distance to achieve it…literally! Veena is currently going ga-ga over her popularity in the world of international cinema and tom-tomming about a British film that she has signed. The 27-year-old actor also proclaims that she has bagged a powerful role in the film. We wonder how much truth there is to Veena's big talk. After the saga of her bare-dare photo shoot with a popular men's magazine and the controversy that followed, Veena reportedly went into hiding, not to save her innocent soul from Pakistani fanatics, but reportedly to create a bigger buzz about herself and to boost her sensational CV. This now-gone-missing-now-found act was followed by her much talked about reality show Veena Ka Vivaah, which will kick off in June this year.

Veena also did a raunchy item number in the recent release Gali Gali Mein Chor Hain. And with all this tamasha on her personal history-sheet, controversy's favourite child is now doing a British film, or so the actor claims. "I am getting many offers from across the globe. Recently, a UK film team was in Dubai and I was shortlisting a few offers that would suit me. I have zeroed in on a few fashion projects and a film. I can't reveal more at the moment," she has said in an interview to a daily. Though she is tight-lipped about her British project we fear that Veena could have rather over-estimated her own abilities and could find herself in one more tight spot in yet another bold stunt-gone-wrong. And then will she go into hiding once again and reappear claiming ill health? We can only wait and wonder…
