Debutant director Mohan took efforts to make Nayanthara pair with Mammootty in his film.Nayanthara also agreed because she liked the story but it seems that Mammootty has stipulated certain conditions to act in this film.

He had asked for Rs 1 Crore salary and the Kerala rights. Director Mohan did not agree for this and hence he wanted to cast Pasupathy in the place of Mammootty. Nayanthara did not agree for this. She refused to pair with Pasupathy.

Story:

The story begins in a with a hospital scene Later shifts to year 1991. Midhuna (Lavanya) is an ordinary college going girl who falls in love with a street guy, Surya (Naveen Chandra) after his several attempts to impress her,she accepts his love.Gautham(Rahul) is a rich guy who works in a pub as Guitarist ,He falls in love with Mithuna(Lavanya) in his first site. His father offers to save the life of Midhuna if she is married to his son for which Midhuna's parents readily agree and Mithuna marriage is fixed with Gautham. Mithuna lives in dilemma to chose one from her love Surya or the genuine love of Gautam.She asks Gautham to give her some time to forget Surya and later agrees to marry him. Interesting flash back about surya's character and his one sided love with a interesting twist at climax and a Tragetic End is the story.

Performances :

Lavanya looks gorgeous steals hearts with exordinary performance , she resembles girija of Maniratam's Geetanjali movie.She did a stupendous job as an innocent college going girl and later as a confused young girl. She looked extremely beautiful and had the charm to lure audience in many frames.Naveen delivered excellent expressions and acting skills required to generate the tragedy demanded by the roleRahul were very good and perfect for their roles given their best .

Techincal :

Cinematography by Murali is the highlight for this movie with cool vishuals and beautiful shots took the movie to next level. All the locales in which the movie are superb.Director Hanu Raghavapudi had dealt with a complex story for his first movie and executed it perfectly. It is such a subtle subject that every frame in the movie should convey emotion and he manged it perfectly. Dialogues were excellent and added to the fresh feel. Radhan's songs and rerecording is the soul of the movie and suited to the mood of the movie.

Analysis:

Andala Rakshasi is a tragic triangular love story. It is a script with subtle emotion. All the new cast and crew of the movie did perfect justice to their roles. The camera work, dialogues, back ground score every thing takes us to the time of happening. The feel of the movie lingers with us even after we leave the theater.It is not a kind of movie for regular movie goers who want fights, romance and comedy. People who enjoy movies like Geetanjali, Yem Maaya Chesave and some Tamil movies with tragic ends will enjoy it. The chances of commercial success are low.

The Suriya starrer Maattrraan's music was released in a grand function yesterday in Expo Mall, Singapore. More than 10,000 people were present for the gala event. Suriya and Harris Jayaraj released the album and directors Gautham Menon,Sivakumar, Karthi, Prabhu, Prasanna and Sneha.

Harris Jayaraj, along with singers Krish, Sai Charan, Suchitra, Karthik, Sunitha, Balaji and many others, performed all the songs from the album. Poorna and Dhansika brought out rocking dance performances, choreographed by Brindha, although the surprise package was however, Suriya, Karthi and Prasanna's performance.The film and will probably release it on September 19th, the Vinayaka Chathurthi day in Tamil and Telugu.
