After item number, it's daredevil stunts for Katrina Posted: 03 Feb 2012 01:06 AM PST Mumbai, Feb 1 (IANS) Katrina Kaif is shooting in Havana for Kabir Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" and Hollywood action director Conrad Palmisano is making the actress do daring stunts like free-falls. Katrina, under the protective eye of co-star and friend Salman Khan, is doing what one member of Cuban unit describes as "the real thing". "These are stunts that any macho hero would think twice before daring. Katrina is really pushing the envelope as far as the female machismo is concerned. She is doing free-falls with Salman by her side. We hear Kareena in 'Agent Vinod' and Kangna Ranaut in 'Krrish 2' would also be attempting the hi-jinks...," said the unit member. When asked about her daredevil act, Katrina said: "Yeah, it's scary but great fun. I've only done very feminine delicate roles so far. This is a new challenge for me. I guess that's what I'm looking for at this stage of my career." Palmisano, who has supervised the stunts for over 200 topnotch films and television series, oversaw Sheila LeBeouf's stunts in "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon", Nicolas Cage in the forthcoming "Seeking Justice" and Jackie Chan in "Rush Hour", informed the source from on-location. Apparently Palmisano initially suggested "something softer" for Katrina. The actress is preparing for them every morning. "She wakes up at the crack of dawn to get warmed up for Palmisano's stunts. Then she gets down to action. Very risky ones, I might add which many of our Bollywood heroes would insist on being done by doubles. Lekin Katrina mein ek junoon hai. She is out to prove she can do action scenes as well...," said the source. |

The 27-year-old was apparently very keen to attach herself with the project, which might also feature Tamil film star Ajith. The movie will be produced by Aascar Ravichandran. However, this is not the only film that would keep the former model busy in Southern film industry, as she might even play South's legendary actor Rajinikanth's love interest in his daughter Soundanarya's film 'Kochadaiyaan'. GGCH not cashing in on Anna wave: Shriya Saran Posted: 02 Feb 2012 06:59 PM PST South actress Shriya Saran's, whose forthcoming Bollywood film 'Gali Gali Chor Hai', is based on the menace of corruption, says the movie is not anyway cashing on the popularity of anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare. "We are not cashing on the movement. Everyone is appreciating what Anna Hazare is doing. Even I respect him for what he has done and how is not sitting and blaming anyone but changing the system. We are not targeting anything. Our movie has a strong message", said Shriya in an interview. ?The fact is that Rumy Jaffry (director) was working on this movie for quite some time. Its just that Anna's movement started around the same time. It is not that we made the film because of the movement...we made the film as we loved the film and believed in it,? she said. The actress will seen after a three-year break, in the Hindi movie, a political satire about a common man's fight against corruption. The film also starring Mugdha Godse and Akshaye Khanna, hits screens on February 3. Shriya plays a teacher, who is Akshaye's wife. "When I first heard the story, I enjoyed listening to it because of the incidents and how the story is told. It made me think that if the story leaves me with something to dwell on, then audiences will also have something to think upon. I went with my gut feeling for the film", she said. "We just felt that a film like this will be appreciated in today's scenario. She teaches kids from the slums. She does not expect big things from life, just some happiness. She stands up for her husband and understands what he is going through", she said. |

Genelia D’Souza: I am not apprehensive about being paired with Riteish Posted: 02 Feb 2012 03:33 PM PST Couples like Ajay Devgn-Kajol or Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor have been in the industry for a while, but have still to prove their success at the box-office. But Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza, who will be married to each other on February 3 before their film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya releases, aren't bothered about this common perception. The Double Dhamaal actor says, "I feel that if a film is good it will work. If it's not good it won't work. Actors, couple, their chemistry and all that are as good as the film. Whether a real life couple work or not are all permutations and combinations." Meanwhile, his girlfriend Genelia is pretty confident about their pairing. "I always believe in chemistry being written. I don't think you can blame actors, coz if the lines are not written the chemistry is not there. But I don't have apprehensions (about the pairing) as I never knew Riteish as an actor. We worked together seven years back and it was our first film, so it was a totally different experience. Today I know that a part of him comes alive during performing. So I am very confident of being in each other's space. Also, people have found certain freshness about our pairing in spite of being around for ten years." We think so too! And if their film does become a hit, there couldn't be a better wedding present. What do you think about them as a reel couple? |
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in dilemma over ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ Posted: 02 Feb 2012 01:45 PM PST Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is geared to commence the shoot of his biopic on Olympian sprinter titled Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and wants the film to be as authentic as possible. The star athlete was born in Lyallpur which is now a part of Pakistan's Punjab province and has been renamed Faisalabad. The director hopes to gain all the required permission to shoot the film in Pak. But it might be tough to get permissions to shoot there. The director is quite positive though. "Yes we are quite keen to shoot on the borders of Pakistan to get more authenticity to the film as Milkha was born in one of the towns there. We will be applying for permissions soon," said the director. The production team does not want to take any chance though, so they have been searching for locations near the borders of both Pakistan and India. The team feels that the typography in both states is similar and they would be able to shoot in either place without any issues. But Rakeysh is still keen to apply for permissions in Pak before taking this call. What happens if he gets permission to shoot in both places? Now that would definitely be a tough decision to make and we are sure that the Rang De Basanti director will make the right choice. |
